I'm considering changes to improve the ride comfort and I've been told that increasing the profile (sidewall) can improve the ride. You dont want to run too low an offset, because the suspension wasnt designed for the wider track. If I had to venture a guess, the offsets can vary quite a bit, to a point. The stock offset for a 16圆.5' wheel (Montreal II, in my case) is +42. My current tires have a profile of 40 and they seem pretty low profile to me. The stock offset for a 15圆' Wheel (Avus, for example) is +35. I read somewhere that the specs should be within 3 and the 2mm difference reprsents a 5 difference. I liked the fact that the 18X8.5s were the same as the OEMs but was a bit concerned with the 2mm difference in offset after reading this article. Even if these have the puck built up on the inside of the wheel, they still have a deep dish face. I did some searching and found Barstows in a 38mm offset. seems the 35 offset is a more neutral fit. 2) 45mm: 20mm less (wheel well clearance) 6mm more outer extension. 1) 35mm: 10mm less (wheel well clearance) 16mm more outer rim extension.
